In The Cloud 04:14
Where can I keep my things? Where can I store my treasure? Somewhere safe where it won't disappear In the cloud, in the cloud What goes on in my head Stuff that no one can measure? There's a place full of words and ideas In the cloud, in the cloud In the cloud, in the cloud Where can I save my soul All my thoughts and impressions I preserve everything I can use In the cloud, in the cloud What's essential to me What means more than possessions Everything that I don't want to lose In the cloud, in the cloud In the cloud, in the cloud What you made yourself Shooting through the sky Walking through the walls Floating through your mind On your TV screen On your mobile phone Images and words In your flesh and bone I used to only love the things I could touch the things that I could feel And we find it so hard To believe in the angels Though we hide all these pictures and sounds In the cloud, in the cloud And the present is strange But the future is stranger Sign me up for a lifelong account In the cloud, in the cloud

Don't know why you stay around Don't know why you don't leave town Don't know why you never let me down A long time ago Don't know why you bake my bread Don't know why you make my bed Don't know why you didn't shake your head Is it because you love me Is it because you love me Well only God knows why Don't know why you brew my tea Don't know why you're good to me Don't know why you acted foolishly Is it because you love me Is it because you love me Well only God knows why Well only God knows why Don't know why you pay my bills Don't know why you wipe my spills We bear each other's burdens and we know what that fulfils From a long long time ago Is it because you love me Is it because you love me Well only God knows why Well only God knows why

The sun, the moon, the stars Jupiter and Mars Everybody thinks they know Where they're gonna be tonight The fuel in your tank The money in your bank Everybody thinks they know Where they're gonna be tonight But I don't know what time it is Something big is falling on my head No I don't know what time it is I try to remember what my teacher said You're on your own now! You're on your own now! The dinner on your table The power in your cable Everybody thinks they know Where they're gonna be tonight The pictures in your camera The things that you remember Everybody thinks they know Where they're gonna be tonight But I don't know what time it is Something big is falling on my head But I don't know what time it is I try to remember what my teacher said You're on your own now! You're on your own now! The mountains and your bed The things inside your head Everybody thinks they know Where they're gonna be tonight But I don't know what time it is Something big is falling on my head But I don't know what time it is I try to remember what my teacher said You're on your own now! You're on your own now!

Have you ever thought that your car's about to stall Have you ever thought that your back's against the wall Have you ever thought that there's nowhere left to fall Well it might be true, it might be true Have you ever thought that your roof has fallen through Have you ever thought that your bills are overdue Have you ever thought that there's nothing you can do Well it might be true, it might be true Have I got news for you? Have I got news for you? Everybody feels that way sometimes Have you ever thought that you've got no place to run Have you ever thought that your life has come undone Have you ever thought that you're losing everyone Well it might be true, it might be true Have you ever thought that you made a big mistake Have you ever thought that you never got a break Have you ever thought that everybody else on the take Well it might be true, it might be true Have I got news for you? Have I got news for you? Everybody feels that way sometimes Have you ever thought that you're not what you could be Have you ever thought that you threw away the the key Have you ever thought you're your own worst enemy Well it might be true, it might be true Have you ever thought that there's no one you can trust Have you ever thought that everything is made of dust Have you ever thought this world is basically unjust Well it might be true, it might be true Have I got news for you? Have I got news for you? Everybody feels that way Everybody feels that way Everybody feels that way sometimes

I need a manager Someone like you I'll give my manager Plenty to do My list of things to do is getting longer I'm running out of time not getting younger Not getting younger I need a manager Someone like you I'll give my manager Plenty to do Someone I trust who really cares for me Someone to manage my affairs for me My affairs for me I don't know how I managed I don't know how I managed I don't know how I managed Without a manager Someone like you I'll give my manager Plenty to do Plenty to do Plenty to do...

I don't want to make a mistake There's a proper procedure And don't go there for heaven's sake There's nothing to see there I'm serving my time I'm serving my time You have to work hard all day It's no place to be lazy You get no thanks and not much pay You have to be crazy They've given me forms to fill I'm just doing my duty And I don't care about good will Forget about beauty I'm doing my job And doing it right I'll get the work done If it takes me all night I try to make sure That nothing's wrong When the means are short And the hours are long I know at the end of the day We're just human resources You'd better not get in the way Of market forces It's more than my job is worth I'm just following orders I'd lose my soul to gain the earth And all of its borders

The record stores Have all been closed They've gone away Except on one special day I like to read But I believe In what you say Except on one special day We work so hard Our hands are scarred We get no pay Except on one special day Write this down What you see Write this down What you see Take it with you everywhere The kids in schools They learn the rules They never play Except on one special day To my surprise I close my eyes I never pray Except on one special day I've no idea How we got here So far away Except on one special day

I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day Words by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Music by John Baptiste Calkin Arranged by DC Cardwell I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old familiar carols play And mild and sweet the words repeat Of peace on earth good will to men I thought as how the day had come The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along th’unbroken song Of peace on earth good will to men And in despair I bowed my head “There is no peace on earth,” I said “For hate is strong and mocks the song Of peace on earth good will to men” Then pealed the bells more loud and deep “God is not dead nor doth he sleep The wrong shall fail, the right prevail With peace on earth good will to men” Till ringing, singing on its way The world revolved from night to day A voice, a chime, a chant sublime Of peace on earth good will to men

It’s your birthday, happy birthday I hope you have a good one When you came here on your birth day You felt the breath of someone When the sun shines down And the rain falls down You will grow up strong and high They are good for you They were made for you Like a present from the sky On your birthday please remember All the good things that you have done On your worst day you’ll forget them And you’ll think of all the bad ones When the sun shines down And the rain falls down You will grow up strong and high They are good for you They were made for you Like a present from the sky Tried to buy something to suit your taste But didn’t quite know how Birthday past and birthday future Here’s your birthday present now.

I don't want you to cling to me I don't want you to sing to me I don't care what you bring for me Don't do anything for me You don't have to be nice to me And don't sacrifice to me Don't do it twice for me Once will suffice for me And I-hi-hi I just want you to know me I don't want you to buy me stuff I don't want you to try to be tough You don't need to double bluff And don't think you don't cry enough You don't have to cook for me Don't write a book for me Don't give back what you took from me You just have to look for me And I-hi-hi I just want you to know me Why don't you come with me I don't want to leave you behind Leave you behind You don't have to plead for me You don't have to bleed for me You don't need to succeed for me There's nothing that you need for me I don't want to annoy you I don't want to employ you I'm not going to destroy you I just want to enjoy you And I-hi-hi I just want you to know me

about

"Pop Art" is the long-awaited follow-up to DC's acclaimed "Some Hope" album. Included in your download will be a beautiful full-colour lyric booklet in PDF form as well as a printable version.

And for musicians among you, a chord songbook is also included so that you can get your cover versions polished off and uploaded to Youtube!

"The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist’s first album in four years, following the exquisite Some Hope, is another fine collection of melodic pop songs delivered with inspiration and imagination. Lovely melodies and vocals abound, and dig the beat in the gorgeous, McCartney-esque “Magic for Everybody.” (a Sam Phillips cover) - Alan Haber (Pure Pop Radio)

"I just received your new album, and I don't know what to say. Great songwriting, beautiful singing, inventive production, really strong playing. All in all a contender for album of the year." - Peter Holmstedt (Hemifrån Music)

"I've be re-listening to DC Cardwell's POP ART album again for the first time in a few weeks. It really is a superb album of finely crafted songs, thought provoking lyrics and some very good instrumental work. The production is flawless. Listening again I'm noticing things that I'd missed before and I'm so much richer for it. This album deserves a wider listening audience and I commend it to you." Mondo Quinn

BIO:

Northern-Irish-born, Tasmania-based singer-songwriter DC Cardwell has gathered devoted fans around the globe with his smart, melodic songs, affecting voice, and skillful, inventive guitar playing.

DC likes to describe his music as “Omnipop”, a word created by one of his other great musical heroes, female singer-songwriter Sam Phillips.

Often likened to everyone's favourites, The Beatles, he's also strongly influenced by Bob Dylan, Ray Davies & Neil Young and a multitude of music genres.

DC is a “triple threat” singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and in 2011 he sealed his credentials by taking out BOTH top prizes in the only song contest he's ever entered, the national Australian Catapult Song Contest, with his profoundly moving song “I Am Still The Same”.
